As for peer review, I found it much more useful than previous classes I’ve been in. I used to give comments just to get it over with and we would never discuss the comments we made with each other. Doing the peer review in a group made it so that after writing my own comments on the paper I also read the others in my group to think about how they came up with this comment and reflect if I agree or disagree. This not only helped me with giving constructive criticism to other peoples writing but made me use those comments to think about my own paper. Again, previously when doing peer review, it was easy to just disregard and ignore what criticism I was given. However, in this class with the time given to discuss and explain the comments we made on each other’s paper; I found it much easier to take the opinion. I could hear where they were coming from and given specific spots of my essay to work on. For me most of the time it was in my explanations, sometimes I got repetitive or would cut my explanation short without connecting the quotes I chose. Over my drafting I fixed this which I probably would not have without the way we did peer review. I also got feedback on my hooks for my paragraphs this was useful in the group setting because instead of just being told to fix it, my peers gave examples on how they would go about changing it which I found incredibly helpful.
